About
The Immigrant and Refugee Outreach Center (IROC) welcomes newcomers by delivering both immediate material support and long-term help for navigating life in the US. We strive to
provide tools to build a strong foundation for a prosperous future in the US by forging strong community ties among both newcomers and volunteers. Our values are empathy for the needs of
our new neighbors, responsiveness to the requests of both newcomers and volunteers, and flexibility to adapt to the evolving challenges of the resettlement process.
IROC was established in August 2019 to help address the gaps in the resettlement process and to try and ease the burden on families as they begin to build a new life in America.
Did you know that refugee families only receive 90-days of assistance from the government-appointed resettlement agencies and very limited financial assistance?
IROC is passionate about connecting with RPCVs to help them with:
-
welcoming new neighbors with open arms and open minds
-
programs that introduce our families to their neighbors
-
neighbors who help our new neighbors navigate life in the US, and more importantly, in their own communities
-
connecting our new neighbors to resources that will help them achieve self-sufficiency
